Imereti is one of the historical and geographical regions of western Georgia, which is divided into upper and lower Imereti, from the north to the Likhi ridge. Imereti is distinguished with highly developed spiritual, economic and material culture.The main city of Imereti Kutaisi, which has been the leading and honorable place in the history of Georgia. Western Georgia, or ancient Colchis and Kutaisi, are mentioned in many ancient (Greek, Arabic, Armenian) historical chronicles and sources. Western Georgia and Kutaisi are related to some of the ancient Greek myths.

Bagrati Cathedral – Bagrati Cathedral is built on the eve of X-XI centuries, in the reign of Bagrat III. Historically it is a symbol of united Georgia. The Bagrati Cathedral has been included in UNESCO World Heritage List since 1994.

Gelati Monastery – Georgian architectural monument,which founded in 1106 by David Aghmashenebeli. According to the will, King David Aghmashenebeli was buried here. In the same cathedral is the only fresco of Davit Aghmashenebeli, Gelati complex is included in UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Monuments list too.

Historical Museum – Niko Berdzenishvili Kutaisi State Historical Museum is founded in 1922, which preserves approximately 190998 exhibits. The museum houses unique samples of cultural heritage of the country in the BC From IX-VII cc to late medieval times. Among them are the monuments of the bronze age and antique period, which discovered by archaeological excavations on the territory of Western Georgia.

Motsameta Monastry – Was built in XI century in the valley of Tskaltsitela. Here, the brothers David and Konstantine Mkheidzes , who are martyred as saints.
